The Journal of Soil Engineering and Foundations is dedicated to advancing knowledge, research, and practice in soil mechanics, geotechnical engineering, and foundation design. The journal provides an international platform for researchers, engineers, practitioners, and educators to share innovative findings, practical solutions, and emerging technologies addressing complex geotechnical challenges. It welcomes both fundamental and applied research that improves understanding of soil behavior and enhances the safety, reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of geotechnical structures. By encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange, the journal seeks to support advances in modern soil engineering and contribute to resilient and sustainable infrastructure development.
The journal covers a broad range of topics, including soil mechanics, foundation engineering, geotechnical site investigation, slope stability, earth retention, ground improvement, and geotechnical risk assessment. Research on soil properties, shear strength, compressibility, permeability, laboratory and field testing, shallow and deep foundations, piles, caissons, retaining structures, soil nailing, and landslide mitigation is particularly relevant. The journal also welcomes studies involving remote sensing, geophysical investigation, innovative foundation systems, and advanced ground improvement techniques such as compaction, grouting, and soil stabilization. Case studies and practical investigations addressing challenging geological and engineering conditions are strongly encouraged.
The Journal of Soil Engineering and Foundations also emphasizes emerging technologies, sustainable engineering practices, and advanced computational approaches in geotechnical engineering. It welcomes research on environmentally friendly materials, sustainable soil stabilization, resource-efficient construction methods, and the environmental and societal impacts of geotechnical practices. Studies involving numerical modeling, finite element analysis, computational simulation, data-driven methods, and other advanced techniques for predicting soil behavior and foundation performance are encouraged. Through the publication of rigorous and innovative research, the journal aims to bridge theoretical developments with engineering practice and contribute to safer, more sustainable, and technologically advanced geotechnical infrastructure.
The Journal of Soil Engineering and Foundations follows a Continuous Publication Model to facilitate the rapid and efficient dissemination of high-quality research in geotechnical engineering, soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and related fields. Under this model, articles are published individually as soon as they have successfully completed the peer-review, editorial evaluation, revision, and production processes. Articles do not need to wait for the completion of a monthly, quarterly, or other scheduled issue. All articles published within a calendar year are assigned to a designated volume. Each published article receives a permanent publication date, DOI, volume assignment, and complete bibliographic information to support accurate citation, indexing, and long-term accessibility. Depending on the journal’s publishing system, articles may be identified using article numbers or conventional page numbering.
The continuous publication model enables researchers, engineers, academics, consultants, and practitioners to access new findings in areas such as soil mechanics, foundation engineering, geotechnical characterization, ground improvement, slope stability, retaining structures, earthquake geotechnical engineering, soil–structure interaction, and sustainable geotechnical engineering without unnecessary publication delays. The journal maintains a transparent annual archive in which all published articles remain permanently accessible. This model also provides flexibility in managing the number of articles published during each year without requiring the journal to artificially create or fill predefined issues.
Through continuous publication, the Journal of Soil Engineering and Foundations aims to promote timely scholarly communication, improve the accessibility and visibility of geotechnical research, and provide authors with a streamlined pathway from final acceptance to formal publication.
